WRITE TO STATE LEGISLATORS IN FLORIDA

In Florida, there are two bills in progress.

  • HB 49/SB 1596 “Employment (and curfew) of minors”: This bill extends working hours for 16-17 year-olds, endangering the education, health, and long-term success of Florida’s young people.

  • SB 460/HB 917 “Career and technical education”: This bill allows 16-17 year-olds to work in construction, including on roofs under 6ft high and near roofs, which puts young people at risk of serious injury and death. It would also breach federal law, which has an outright ban on employment on or near any roof.

The letter below outlines objections to both sets of bills, and you are able to insert your own personal experiences and messaging. The letter will be sent to your local representatives based on your address.
